WHO WE ARE

Gangstas to Growers (G2G) is a social enterprise focused on building worker-owned cooperatives that provide opportunities for employment, empowerment, and entrepreneurship in agriculture for at-risk and formerly incarcerated youth. The mission is to end the cycle of poverty within our community, to provide a space of healing, to help support a black-run food system and to end recidivism.

current projects

The Gangstas to Growers program is expanding to better support women by extending its duration to a comprehensive 10 months. Previously, we offered a 3-month program and twice ran a 6-month program exclusively for men. This new format will ensure all participants receive robust support and resources throughout their journey.

Gangstas to Growers

Sweet Sol is a savory blend of natural ingredients with a touch of heat. The spice will grab you then provide a taste of sweetness. Proceeds go to our youth, back into the program, and towards black-owned farms around Atlanta that we work with.

Why Sweet Sol? G2G graduates are members of The Sweet Sol Cooperative. Our youth grow and harvest the ingredients, then make the hot sauce themselves. Support your local community while infusing flavor into your favorite dishes!

SUCCESS STORIES

Gangstas to Growers

Before I got involved with Gangstas to Growers I was in the streets. I was incarcerated in the middle of 2015 and, the experience, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I joined G2G in 2016. I learned people skills, I learned seeding, growing, harvesting, composting... It has taught me that I can grow food myself ‘cause I’ve seen it done. I have the power.
